robbing Egypt

We're having unusually warm temperatures here ... up in the 90's every day lately. I was awake from the heat at 4:00 Sunday morning, and sat on the deck and watched a thunderstorm go past in the far distance. It was quite lovely ... well worth waking up for.

Ex. 3:22 ... obviously in New Testament times, God doesn't automatically pile us with gold & silver when we choose to follow Him. He uses the educations, posessions, talents & relationships that we've brought with us to build His kingdom.

Exercised every day this weekend (and nearly killed myself getting a garage-sale television up on top of a cabinet in my living room ... but I'm not sure if that kind of stupidity counts as "weight lifting"). :)

I tried Carol's vinegar/honey drink, and it's quite tasty (though I'm going to cut down to 2 tsp. of vinegar instead of 2 Tbsp. It was a bit too strong for me.) Give it a try - she posted the recipe in the "comments" section).

If it came to a specific purpose - such as the exodus of the children of Israel - God would provide supernaturally the way He did then. I mean, they didn't have the luxury of time to go interviewing for jobs, working those jobs, and accruing special rewards, etc. They had an appointment with the Red Sea to keep and not a second to delay in keeping that appointment.

Actually, in the natural, no way would slaves be able to go to their taskmasters and say, "Load me up with all your gold, silver, and raiment," and have them actually do it. No way, no how! But there was a special need that had to do with the eternal plan and purpose of God for that particular group of people at that precise moment in time, and so it required the special supernatural, unprecidented provision of God - provision that still cannot be explained to this very day and so overflowing in its abundance that it boggles the mind.

Now, if it comes down to us just wanting it because we want it, we'll keep on wanting it - and not because God doesn't want us to have things even beyond the basic needs. The thing is, if it is something that God has already previously ordained for a specific person, or group of people, for an appointed time and purpose, then the provision will be astounding and unprecidented - much like the loaves and fishes Jesus multiplied or the coin for the taxes fetched out of the mouth of the fish that Jesus told Peter to go and catch.

And about that drink...lol...OOPS! Did I say 2 tablespoons? Oh my! Sorry! It should have been 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 2 (heaping) tea spoons of honey. (FYI - raw honey is actually the best for you. It will say it on the label if it's raw, otherwise, it's grade A).
